JBL Grip Bluetooth Speaker Available at Significant Discount

Finding the perfect portable Bluetooth speaker often means choosing between convenience and quality. Compact models offer easy transport but deliver limited audio performance, while larger units provide better sound at the expense of portability. The JBL Grip Bluetooth Speaker, now priced at $77.36 on Amazon (originally $99.95), strikes a balance between these competing priorities with a discount of over 20%.

This speaker’s compact design makes it ideal for outdoor activities and travel. Its size allows it to fit comfortably in a backpack’s side pocket, while a built-in nylon loop enables attachment to carabiners or hooks. The device boasts an IP68 rating, providing protection against dust and water immersion up to nearly five feet for approximately 30 minutes. Additionally, JBL designed it to withstand drops from three feet onto concrete surfaces, making it suitable for rugged use.

The audio performance centers around a 43mm by 80mm full-range driver that handles frequencies from 70Hz to 20kHz through Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. While it operates as a mono speaker, users can pair it with another compatible JBL device for stereo sound. The speaker excels at delivering clear vocals and balanced midrange frequencies for podcasts and casual music listening. However, bass response remains limited compared to larger speakers in JBL’s lineup, and high-frequency detail may appear somewhat restrained.

Users can customize the audio experience through the JBL Portable application, which offers four equalizer presets and a seven-band manual equalizer. Physical controls include power, Bluetooth, and Auracast buttons on the top surface, plus volume and playback controls on the front panel. A unique feature is the LED light strip on the rear, which provides ambient lighting effects and can serve as a gentle light source in dark environments.

Battery performance reaches up to 14 hours of playback at moderate volume levels, sufficient for extended outdoor use. The speaker recharges via USB-C connection in approximately three hours, though JBL does not include the charging cable in the package. Amazon currently bundles the purchase with 90 days of Amazon Music service, providing immediate access to streaming content.
